Senior Revenue Accountant

Supervisor: Sr. VP, Accounting and Purchasing

Location: Essex, CT

Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly understands the complex operations and regulations of the various Independent System Operators (ISOs) in order to validate billing and identify areas of potential financial impact to the Company
  • Interfaces with various ISOs in matters of settlement and represents the Company’s back office in ISO billing meetings
  • Prepares monthly revenue & cost variance analyses (estimates & actual) for the various ISO markets
  • Understands and analyzes the various ISO tariffs and rules as they relate to Company’s business presence in each of the ISOs
  • Works with other Corporate business lines to identify the operational and billing aspects of special and complex new electric deals and to address how significant changes in the ISOs impact their operations
  • Identifies areas of interchange billing and accounting for process improvement, and drives initiatives to initiate necessary changes
  • Must be competent in market regulations affecting wind power generation billing operations
  • Ability to train and lead others in the above activities, and to handle multiple assignments and/or information requests simultaneously

Requirements for Job
  • Education: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in Accounting or Finance) from an accredited 4-year college or university, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Two or more years experience with NYISO and NEPOOL settlements and related experience in the energy industry
    • Working knowledge of NYISO and NEPOOL settlements, billing procedures, market operations, rules, and regulations
    • Strong quantitative, data, modeling skills as related to energy pricing structures
    • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheet and database applications
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills

  • Desired Qualifications:
    • Three to five years experience with and working knowledge of NYISO, NEPOOL, MISO, PJM, SPP, ERCOT, CAISO settlements, billing procedures, market operations, rules, regulations, retail or wholesale power, energy marketing operations, and energy/commodity trading
